Prayers for use at Home
Trusting in God’s plan
O God, may we accept your plan for our lives. Grant, O Lord, Thy protection And in protection, strength And in strength, understanding And in understanding, knowledge And in knowledge, the knowledge of justice And in the knowledge of justice, the love of it And in the love of it, the love of all existences And in that love, the love of spirit and all creation. Amen.
Prayer for Families
Lord, I pray Your emotional, physical, and spiritual protection over my family and children. Keep evil far from them, and help them to trust You as their refuge and strength. I pray You will guard their minds from harmful instruction, and grant them discernment to recognize truth. I pray You will make them strong and courageous in the presence of danger, recognizing that You have overcome and will set right all injustice and wrong one day. Help them to find rest in Your shadow, as they live in the spiritual shelter You provide for them. Let them know that the only safe place is in Jesus, and that their home on earth is surpassed by Your Heavenly Home AMEN. – Source: Rebecca Barlow Jordan
Weekly PRAYERS
Prayer for the Week
Father in heaven, may we follow in the steps of your Son Jesus Christ and by his transfigured example upon the holy mountain, be faithful to your love and listening to his voice, be given strength to witness steadfastly in this world, that we may see him as he is in the world that is to come; where he is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. AMEN
Post Communion Prayer
Holy Father, who gathered us here around the table of your Son to share this meal with the whole household of God: in that new world where you reveal the fullness of your peace, gather people of every race and language to share in the eternal banquet of Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
Prayer for the week
PRAY FOR REFUGEES AND RNLI VOLUNTEERS.
Almighty God, who parted the sea, that your children might flee from terror, and live the lives to which you called them. Hear our prayer for those who work upon the waters. Give aid to their efforts and strength to their resolve, and so bring safely to shore all who are in peril; that all may come, at the last, to your haven of rest through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen. RNLI Porthcawl volunteer, Fr Mark Broadway,
For the NHS
God of healing and compassion, we thank you for the National Health Service, and for the dedication of all who work in it:
give skill, sympathy and resilience to all who care for the sick, and your wisdom to those engaged in medical research. Strengthen all in their vocation through your Spirit, that through their work many will be restored to health and strength; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
For carers and health professionals
Heavenly Father, whose blessed Son came not to be served but to serve: bless all who, following in his steps, give themselves to the service of others; that with wisdom, patience, and courage, they may minister in his name to the suffering and the needy; for the love of him who laid down his life for us, your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Prayers in relation to COVID-19
Keep us, good Lord, under the shadow of your mercy in this time of uncertainty and distress. Sustain and support the anxious and fearful,
and lift up all who are brought low; that we may rejoice in your comfort
knowing that nothing can separate us from your love in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
An Act of Spiritual Communion
If any person desires to receive the Sacrament and is faithful and penitent, but is otherwise unable to do so, that person is assured that all the benefits of Holy Communion are received.
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, refresh me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O Good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds, hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from you.
From the malicious enemy defend me.
In the hour of my death call me,
and bid me come to you,
that with all your Saints I may praise you
for ever and ever. Amen.
OR
O Lord Jesus Christ,
since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
I humbly pray
that you will come spiritually to my soul.
Come Lord Jesus,
come and cleanse me,
heal me,
strengthen me,
and unite me to you,
now and for evermore. Amen

Lord Jesus Christ,
in the days of your flesh
the sick were brought to you for healing:

those who are ill, in body or in mind;
may your presence be with them
to relieve suffering and distress
and to restore them to fullness of life,
for your love’s sake. Amen.
We thank you, our Father,
that our loved ones, who have gone from our sight, are in your keeping;
help us to leave them there in perfect trust,

Grant that we may learn to know you better,
so that we may meet them again in your presence,
through faith in him who loved us and gave himself for us,
Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.
